Just a reminder: Day Light Savings time change was Sunday, November 1st... REMEMBER to change the batteries in your smoke detectors!!!!!

For some of us, depending on where you live, it is getting time to fire up our heaters for the first time in many monthes... You may smell a slight burning smell for a few minutes...this may be due to the dust burning off the heating coils.

If your heating system is in a closet, keep the area around the unit clear, make sure the stack is in good condition. Have the unit serviced if in doubt... better to be safe, than sorry!!!

Check to see if your damper is open BEFORE you start to burn in your fireplace. NOTE: this goes for the folks using gas logs also! If you forget this step your smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide detectors may remind you!
